HARRIER, Gregory Dwight, 69, died peacefully at his home on Monday, July 16, 2018. A 1968 graduate of Huguenot High School, Greg earned his associate's degree from John Tyler Community College. Greg worked at the Library of Virginia as Housekeeping Manager for the past 20 years. Prior to his association with the Library of Virginia, Greg owned and managed Custom Custodial Service and later Sunshine Florist in Richmond. Greg dearly loved his family and friends and never forgot a kindness. He loved to bake and was famous for his Cold Oven Pound Cake, which he enjoyed sharing. Greg was an avid gardener, and had a passion for all things mechanical, especially Mercedes-Benz automobiles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Jean Harrier. Greg is survived by his spouse, Timothy J. McFarlane; his sisters and husbands, Linda and Ronald Diamond of Midlothian and Jayne and Ronald Sharpe Jr. of Mineral; his brother and wife, Douglas and Susan Harrier of North Chesterfield; his niece and husband, Jean and Staff Sgt. Aaron Thompson (USMC) of Midlothian; his nephews and wives, Jeffrey and Sarah-Anne Diamond of Richmond, Matthew and Guylyn Diamond of Midlothian, Ronald Sharpe III of Mineral, Charles and Sarah Sharpe of Louisa, Scott and Casey Harrier of Bumpass, Michael Harrier and Adam Harrier of North Chesterfield; and seven great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special aunt, Jean B. Heintzelman of Schnecksville, Pa. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the nursing staff and Palliative Care Team at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute and a special thank you to the incredible nursing team of Hospice of Virginia. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. A celebration of Greg's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 7757 Chippenham Pkwy., Richmond, Va. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Greg has requested that donations be made to Southside Virginia SPCA, Meherrin, Va., southsidespca.org or St. Luke Lutheran Church, Richmond, Va., stlukerichmond.org.
