Kirk Cronin

Richmond Times-Dispatch (VA) - April 2, 2009
Deceased Name: CRONIN, Kirk Robert

59, of Bon Air, Va., left us peacefully Sunday after a lengthy illness, bound for a place with no more pain or suffering. Kirk was the son of James Robert "Lefty" Cronin, deceased. Kirk is survived by his devoted wife and partner of more than 17 years, Joan; his mother, Dorothy Cronin Cartwright and stepfather, Richardson B. Cartwright of West Point, Va. Also, he is survived by his sister, Claudia Cronin of Bon Air, Va.; his nephew, MA2 Robert M. Dow, currently stationed in Sicily; an uncle and aunt, Raymond and Janie Kessler of Arlington, Texas; his stepbrothers, Rick Cartwright and his wife, Louanne, of Woodbridge, Va., and Larry Cartwright and his wife, Donna, of Summerville, S.C.; and his dog, Pookie. Kirk was an avid, if not always lucky, fisherman and NASCAR and NHRA fan. He was a generous, fun-loving, gregarious man who loved his family, friends, dogs, life and his '67 Cougar. He could light up a room with his smile and his humorous stories. Kirk never met a stranger. Also left to cherish our memories was his devoted, loving caregiver, Sandi McNay. For her compassionate care, we always will be grateful. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to LifeNet, the A.S.P.C.A., or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to Cremation & Burial Society, Asera Care Hospice and Care Advantage. A private memorial service will be held Friday, April 3, followed by a reception at Claudia's home starting at 3 p.m. for friends. There will be a celebration of Kirk's life at 12 noon Sunday, April 5, at the Stratford Grill on Forest Hill Avenue. Please bring your favorite "King of Bon Air" stories.

This is a memory of recently deceased Kirk Cronin. I was sitting in 6th period (don't remember what class), and the windows of my class were facing Forest Hill Avenue. I heard horn honking and looked out of the window and saw someone driving Kirk's car and Kirk was mooning our class! It was hilarious and so appropriate at the time!
