Subject: Patricia (Pat) Yancey DeJesus — Huguenot High School Class of 1968 Dear Mr. Irvin, My name is David DeJesus. I married Patricia (“Pat”) Yancey on August 21, 1970. Pat passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2025. We were blessed with 55 loving and wonderful years together. While going through some of her belongings,I discovered a box I had never seen before,labeled “Huguenot High School.” Pat grew up on Chatsworth Avenue and attended elementary, middle, and high school in the Huguenot community, so this box was clearly very special to her. Inside are many pocket-sized school photos, each with kind handwritten notes from classmates on the back—-evidence of how many close friendships she formed at Huguenot. I even recognized some names as guests at our wedding in Richmond in 1970. There is also a photo of the Lambda Alpha Chi sorority from 1967, of which Pat and several of her classmates were members, along with a large panoramic photo of the entire Huguenot High School graduating class of 1968. After discovering this memory box, I searched online for Huguenot High School and came across hhs1968.org. What a wonderful website you have created and maintain! It is truly a gift to classmates and families alike. I don’t know why Pat was unaware of the site or never registered, but I went ahead and registered her on Friday evening. I also completed the “In Memory” submission and included her obituary. While no obituary can fully capture a life, it does offer a small glimpse into the kindness, warmth, and care Pat shared throughout her life—-including during her time with her many Huguenot classmates and friends. Thank you again for creating and maintaining such a meaningful site. It is a fitting tribute to the Huguenot community and a comforting way to honor my wonderful wife, Patricia (Pat) Yancey DeJesus.
