Les Young sent me an email advising that Arthur passed away in Califormia at age 39 of a massive brain aneurism, leaving a wife and two children. RIP//Bill 09-30-09
Arthur, Even though I did not know you or have any classes with you, I wonder what your experience at HHS was like. I'm a high school teacher now, and the classroom environment and diversity has changed so much in 40 years, I can't help but compare it to my own high school days. I hope that you were not made to feel like too much of an outsider as a minority student. I hope we were kind to you and that you never felt the sting of racial tension that many students did during the early days of desegregation. Your road was a lonely one, yet a brave one that I don't think most of us appreciated back in 1968. Rest in quiet peace.
I only knew Arthur by site. I never got to really know the person. I do hope that he will Rest In Peace and will have no more worries and sorrows. I never knew Arthur to cause any problems in an era that was full of social problems. He seemed to understand what those problems were and he just did not talk about them as I have been told. i wish his family the best and hope that they will always remember him as a good and decent person.
