Lewis Carter, Jr.

March 19, 1949 — August 4, 2023

Lewis Travers Carter, Jr., age 74, of Richlands, North Carolina, formerly of Chase City, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4th, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Travers Carter, Sr.; mother, Edna Hoover Carter; son, Shawn Travers Carter; and stepdaughter, Betty Jo Glassco.

Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Michelle R. Carter; daughter, Ashley Carter Thacker (JT); stepsons, Tony (Carolyn) and Duane (Lisa); stepdaughter, Shelly LeRoy; grandchildren, Carter and Haylee Thacker, Alicia, Austin and Alexis LeRoy and countless friends.

Lewis loved his family unconditionally and had a true respect for his country.  Lewis retired from DuPont after 36 years where he was a pipe fitter.  Lewis had a great passion for bass fishing and hunting and if he wasn’t at home, he was on the water at Buggs Island Lake.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodland Mausoleum, E Sycamore Street, Chase City, VA 23924. Reverend Rodney Barwick will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
